Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Miss Earth Goes RuralThe school welcomed the Miss Earth South Africa team with song and dance as they escorted them into the school’s grounds. Maila was fortunate enough to not only plant a wild olive tree in the gardens of the Royal Kraal but also to meet the Queen Moremadi Mothapo. The “Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol” will return to plant trees with Kulula.com’s PROJECT GREEN at several other schools in Polokwane.

PLANTING FOR TOMORROW

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Planting For TomorrowThe learners and educators at Mambo Primary, enjoy the Green Workshop, with the assistance of Miss Lebogang Keagile, Miss Earth South Africa 2008, third runner up.
While the extensive Cosatu strikes cause disruption in South Africa’s main working cities, they did not seem to disrupt the PLANTING FOR TOMORROW campaign in Chiawelo today.

The Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol went ahead with their bulb planting with grades R, one, two, three and four of Mambo Primary School. The Miss Earth South Africa team along with all the students at the school planted Chlidanthus or commonly known as the Perfumed Fairy Lily sponsored by Hadeco. Hadeco has generously partnered the PLANTING FOR TOMORROW campaign and Consol have supplied the glass jars, thus enabling this campaign to roll out in several different schools around South Africa.  The children were overjoyed and were so happy to receive their glass jars filled with soil that were to house their very own Perfumed Fairy lily. The Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol will be back to upgrade and add to the already existing vegetable garden.
