Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol, Chanel Grantham, proudly modelled a necklace sponsored by De Beers, this piece of jewellery is from the ‘Shining Light Collection”, which is a collection of South African pieces, by South African designers and craftsman. Her national costume, by Gerrit Pienaar, was distinctly South African in its beading, which was done by a Pretoria community based project. Her swimwear was designed by Joburg based, Colette Designer Garments. Her evening gown and cocktail wear were by KZN designers Francois Vedemme and Katherine Montague respectively.
Grantham is a student at the University of Cape Town, and is studying ‘Engineering and Built Environment’; her vision is to create awareness on the development of green buildings, thus reducing our ecological footprint. She will be returning to South Africa in the next week amidst great excitement.

The Miss Earth South Africa Team visited Primrose Primary along with Imperial Toyota Bedfordview. Having been opened for less than 6 months Imperial Toyota Bedfordview is already giving back to their community. Primrose Primary received 10 indigenous trees and an insightful and knowledgeable educational programme on how to behave in a greener manner. This Educational Programme informed the grade three class of Primrose Primary the importance of trees and what they can do at home to save water, be electricity wise and to encourage everyone to pick up and recycle.
From the start of 2009 Imperial Toyota’s commitment to the Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol, has been strong and green in essence… The year started off with a Stationery Drive held at D.D. Dliwayo Primary in Protea Glen, Soweto. This drive equipped an entire school of underprivileged learners with the necessary stationery for them to start the year in the right way. We have participated in several school educational programmes with Imperial Toyota as a partner around the country.
