Monday, December 14th, 2009GROW YOUR OWN VEGETABLES:
The Miss Earth South Africa Organization took on supporting a community outreach programme that would see hundreds of 100% Biodegradable vegetable booklets being hand assembled by community members who are without employment. As part of the organization’s ethos to support sustainable living, greening the minds of children and creating a new and alternative manner in which vegetable gardens are looked at. To teach children to grow vegetables is a valuable tool for healthy living and self sustainability. If you would like to pick fresh healthy food from your garden, teach your children the benefits of gardening. Having fresh veggies available for friends, family, swapping or selling, or just to have the joy of working the soil is all beneficial to your health and the Earth. This little book gives you all the tools, including how to start your own compost heap, pages with embedded veggie seeds and a 100% biodegradable book that you can add to your compost heap once you have shared it with your friends. To purchase your books for your class, your child, as a nifty gift or to just support a worthy cause, contact the Miss Earth South Africa Organization on 082 505 0664 or email us at missearthsa@mweb.co.za

Mabuhay South Africa!!
I return with a top 16 accolade but more importantly, I return with a wealth of environmental experience! The entire Miss Earth experience in the Philippines has been amazing. Once again, thank you for all your support and well wishes.
It’s been a month of sharing as much as it’s been a month of learning. My life is richer for the experience gained, the lessons that I’ve learnt, the friendships that I’ve made and the networks that have been developed. I can honestly say that we were able to add environmental value through all the activities that we participated in.
Thank you to Carousel Productions for making our experience so memorable and allowing us such a broad platform to showcase our environmental cause. To our Chaperones, you are the BEST!! To all our sponsors, thank you for your continued generosity.
Whilst in Manila, Discovery Suites Hotel was our official home and the staff became our family! I miss you guys already.
Boracay Island is a Paradise - a must-see and must-experience. White sands, blue seas and friendly people that are genuine about hospitality. The Fairways and Bluewaters was our official home on the Island. A really beautiful resort with private beaches, a golf course, intriguing coves and caves. I even managed to squeeze in some horse riding on the beach!
It’s always good to be back on home soil. My next green appointment is this Wednesday and Thursday where I will welcome the editor of “Bending the Curve” Robert Zipplies, in partnership with Project 90 by 2030, as they undertake an epic journey on an electric bicycle from Cape Town to Durban via JHB and Pretoria to raise awareness of climate change.
Half way through my reign, I look forward to continuing my journey and serving our country as Miss Earth South Africa in association with Consol.
Green Peace and Love
