I was honoured to have the opportunity of attending as well as presenting a talk at the Annual Extraordinary Hotels and Safari Lodges Event at the Cape Milner Hotel in Cape Town. Extraordinary features a collection of luxurious game lodges and hotels in Southern Africa. The criteria for Extraordinary properties include unqiue style, personalised service and scenic geographical locations. The Extraordinary marketing group for hotels and safari lodges prides itself on professionalism and high values. A few of these just to name a few, include the Cape Milner Hotel in Cape Town, Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge in the Kruger, Black Rhino Game Lodge in Pilanesberg and Mabula Game Lodge in Limpopo.

The Cape Milner Hotel hosted the event on the 20th August 2015. Representatives from all of the participating safari lodges and hotels are invited to attend the event as well as other guests as they celebrate the evening and get to showcase their amazing destinations. I was given the unique opportunity of being their guest speaker, giving a talk on the Link between conservation and tourism and most importantly an overview of the Miss Earth South Africa programme and what we are all about. It was a great platform to create awareness around the Miss Earth South Africa Programme as well as conservation and tourism and the link between all of these facets.

I focused on Conservation in the broader context, eco-tourism, the importance of biodiversity and tourism in this country and the impact it has on our economy, the challenges we face with eco-tourism, success stories and how we can be responsible tourists in our own country. Through many successful examples around the world, eco-tourism has been proven as an effective market-based solution for conservation challenges. In many of these examples, ecotourism, by providing economic incentive for protecting natural and cultural diversity, has made conservation efforts possible, as well as providing revenues to continue supporting the conservation efforts.

I am so grateful to the Miss Earth South Africa Programme for giving me opportunities such as this one where I can share my passion with people and spread the Miss Earth South Africa ethos.
