“At the Vodacom Durban July 2010, Kelly, Alex and I, pictured here with Tim Goodenough, the Sports Psychologist for the Sharks Rugby Team, having a great time! Stunning dresses were designed and made by Bianca Warren, hot little numbers! Another successful and enjoyable event. Thanks to Miss Earth S.A. for enabling us to attend such a prestigious event as 2010 finalists.”

Celebrity cocktail evening

On 2 July we were invited as celebrity guests to attend a cocktail evening at the prawn and jazz festival. We were greeted with Lindt chocolates and a glass of champagne. It was fun to mingle with the whose -who of durban . It was so nice to see how interested they all were about the competition and i am sure us kzn girls gave a quick education lesson to a few guests there on how to keep things green :)

Fashion show
Fashion, food and fun was enjoed by all at the prawn and jazz festival in balito where our Miss Earth KZN finalists took to the ramp and strutted their stuff for the sappi fashion show. Super fashion was modelled and girls from the university created amazing recycled looks made purley out of rubbish! Amazing pieces were made and it just shows that you can recycle anything!!!

Movie premier
We attended the premier for the movie “Soccer - South of the Umbilo” which was an informative documentary about people playing soccer during Apartheid and how the love of the game was blind to the colours of skin! Truley proud of how far our South Africa has come!

Mbali: Glam Girl Diary - 3D Parlotones

Good morning ladies

Watching the first ever performance by the Parlotones in 3-D was exceptional, the set up was bona fide concert meets eye-glass technology. It couldn’t get realer than that.

It felt like we had a front row seat and this is mainly because 3-D makes use of particular  wavelengths of red, green, and blue for the right eye, and different wavelengths of red, green, and blue for the left eye. The eyeglasses filter out those particular wavelengths and make the wearer able to see a 3-D image.

It is hard to believe that something so “futuristic” is actually from the “stereoscopic era” which is from the late 1890s.
Thank you so much Earth Team for such an awesome experience, we had so much fun making 3-D, green beauty-history!

The first 3D concert by Sony was held on Thursday 1 July in the Nelson Mandela Square in a big dome. Once inside we were all given special 3D glasses and prepared ourselves for the awesomeness. The main attraction was the Parlotones who rocked as usual! It was amazing to be part of this experience, definately a first for me and I’m sure many others! We were interviewed by some foriegn journalists and TV crews as well as K-TV and Mnet Africa! What an exciting event! Thank-you MESA for another wonderful experience!
