67 Minutes of Community Service: July 18 Mandela Day

July the 18th is the day to honour Tata Madiba’s legacy of devotion and service to others by showing our commitment to making the world a better place as we harness collective energy to build our communities. It’s a heartfelt call to action to take the first small steps to follow in his footsteps.

I am so grateful for the opportunity the Miss Earth South Africa platform has given to so many young women of South Africa including myself, because through it I managed to touch so many lives. On the 18th of July I was privileged to be amongst those who believe so much in servicing others and giving back to the communities they live in.

I joined an orphanage called Hope Warriors Children’s Charity in Soshanguve, as part of their 67 minutes, they were showcasing the different talents of the  children. I was also given a chance to tell the children and parents who were there about Miss Earth South Africa Leadership Programme and the importance of serving others during the month of July.

To me Mandela Day is to be practised everyday by all individuals, it doesn’t matter how big or small the contribution. ‘’It’s in your hands to make the world a better place.”- Nelson Mandela
