Mandela Day 2017: Nka-Thuto Primary School
Since July is the month of giving back to the community, the needy, or doing something out of a good heart because it is Mandela month. On the 14th we started with our Mandela Day as Regional Finalist 2017 at Nka-Thuto Primary School in Soweto. We were exposed and skilled about crafting something valuable out of waste for example using plastic rappers for sweets or potato chips plastic bags to create a bag, we also made bags from newspapers, purses from straws and other bags from powder soap plastic bag.
There is nothing as throwing away, we need to get rid of that idea in our heads because, there’s always something that you can do with that wasted material and turn it into something of value or worth-Ella Bella
NQ Jewellery and Tsogo Sun Entrepreneur Mr Nqobile Nkosi demonstrated to us on how to create man made jewellery as a way to help minimize the action against poverty in South Africa. The Principal of the school said: Every child needs to be given an opportunity and initiatives such as Miss Earth Leadership Programme help so much in empowering the kids into becoming better and responsible leaders of their communities, nation and the world.
Thank you so much to the Nka-Thuto Learners, teachers, principal, NQ jewellery, Tsogo Sun Entrepreneur Nqobile Nkosi and to the Miss Earth South Africa Family and Team, for allowing the Regional Finalist 2017 to be part of this fight against poverty this Mandela Day.
