My green journey begins in Boephakitso Primary; instilling environmental responsibility in young minds and hearts for the benefit of our future generations.
Not only did I impart knowledge, but through my interaction with the learners I learned something new. What I gained most from this experience is that we have a responsibility towards each other, whether young or old. Just as I had a responsibility to share knowledge and educate, I was educated in the process by listening and understanding the obstacles faced by learners, thus understanding what causes certain behaviors. The growth, health and sustainability of our environments greatly depends on our sense of responsibility toward each other. By understanding their needs this will empower to serve my community and environment better.
The saying ” Be the change you want to see”, has never had more substance and meaning to me than it does now. Actively going out there, painting my world green and being transformed in the process.
