Arbor day is celebrated every year every year as a way of encourage people to “green” the environment by planting trees. A single tree can provide oxygen for approximately 80 people. It was for this reason I donated two indigenous trees at St. Mary’s Primary School, with the donation of Mangaung Metro Municipality. I had a fun and informative tree planting with grade 3 learners, where I had a brief introduction about the importance of trees, especially indigenous trees , why we should plant more trees and how we can can take care of our trees especially with our current water crises. We, the learners and I, decided to name the 2 indigenous trees Lebogang and Bophelo. Meaning, be thankful to the (gift) of life.
Thanks and appreciation to Mangaung Metro Municipality for providing the trees.
