My main aim doing Miss Earth is to give back. Give back to Mother Nature. Give back to the youth through knowledge. Upon approaching specific schools, I noticed that not all kids have stationary. This led me to think that we are so privileged and often take the little things for granted. Some Things we have, that others do not have.

I decided to type out a proposal to Shoprite Checkers and ask whether they will sponsor any items they have for Primary school learners. In my favour, they agreed promptly.

They also sponsored me a voucher, I can use to buy anything at Shoprite Checkers I feel the learners will need. They’ve also been very generous and given me two storage bins filled with lunch boxes, water bottles, stationary and so much more that I will distribute amongst the schools I’ve been to.

I’ve decided that I will use the voucher to buy seeds and other necessities to start a veggie garden at one of the schools that it will be beneficial to.

I have to thank Shoprite/Checkers for giving me this opportunity to not only give back through knowledge, but something as small as a pencil case that put a priceless smile on the learners faces.

I’m looking forward to returning to the schools I’ve been to, to check up on our 10 trees, water the trees and just have chats with the learners.
