Today, 29 May, I returned to Callaveria Primary School. Upon entering, the kids were excited to have me back. This time I was there to elaborate more about #wastestopswithme, nature conservation and 3 R’s (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse).

My Presentation was presented to 2 Grade 3 classes. Co-operatively they filled their designated spaces and got ready for the presentation.

Briefly, I introduced myself and gave them a little bit of insight as to what Miss Earth South Africa is about and what we aim to achieve.

Already having learnt about Recycling, Reduce and Reuse. They interacted very well regarding this topic.

My Presentation touched base with the following topics:

  • Air Pollution
  • Water Pollution
  • Deforestation
  • Littering
  • More importantly, the water crisis in the Western Cape.

I showed them before and after images of the different kinds of pollution. I showed them images of how our animals suffer due to our negligence. I showed them images of our dam levels in the Western Cape, the kids were shocked.

They were not aware of these realities. I do believe if we teach them from this young age to look after and respect mother earth, the rewards we will sow will be great.

I ended off my presentation with MICHEAEL JACKSON- EARTH SONG music video. This motivated them to do the little bit that they can to preserve our natural resources.
