Rehabilitation can be found anywhere, it takes a seeking eye to find that place. As part of their rehabilitation program, the guys from Second Chance Recovery Center had the opportunity to visit the South African National Biodiversity Institute.
We got to learn about the different Bi-oms found in our country. We also know the difference between indigenous and foreign plants as well the importance of each one of these plants in the ecosystem.
The beautiful sounds of nature, birds singing songs of harmony, the soft breeze of fresh wind stroking our skin offered us the opportunity of clear thoughts. This ensured that the guys forget their struggles and rest in the beauty of nature. This excursion also assisted them in knowing that they dont have to walk this journey on their own. That we are here to offer them a supporting hand and all they need to do is just reach out.
This Excursion offered them an escaping place, a place where their dreams and visions can be revitalized. The garden became a place of restoration, a place where they could relax without giving a though to the pressures of the world which are the reasons they found refuge in the drugs they use. I am so grateful to have worked with the organisation, because above all, I have learned the beauty of the spirit of gratitude.
Thank you Second Chance Recovery Center for welcoming me into your premises.
