This morning I had the absolute honour and pleasure to address my fellow Varsity College students in challenging them to the big 02 challenge, as well as proposing an idea of recycling with a difference.

The big 02 challenge,  challenges us to give back to mother nature and plant trees where and whenever we can. I challenged Varsity College to get involved and more importantly to go out in to our community together to empower and inspire others, such as schools,  homes and communities to do the same. I was quite disappointed to note that Varsity College doesn’t have a recycling scheme, however this will be changing over the next few weeks, where we will not only have  recycling bins for plastic or paper, but for old clothes, toys and non-perishable foods too! This way, we are all able to contribute to making a small differnence that will go a long way to fulling tummies, warming hearts and spreading smiles! The ‘recycling with a difference’ campaign will be launched on the Varsity College Durban North campus next week Wednesday. Over the next few weeks I will be talking to surrounding colleges and schools to get involved too.

I left my fellow learners with a simple, yet inspiring quote,  ‘I always wondered why somebody didn’t do something about that and then I realised, I am somebody.’ I challenge you to the big 02 challenge and to recycle with a difference! ‘Never forget that at any given time we all have the power and potential to make a difference, no matter how big or small that difference may be.’

With love, Maxine
